Don't know why that happened. Here's a little Saddam primer for the Benedict Arnolds around here. There's plenty more public domain info on Saddam's atrocities - all you need is Google and "Iraq torture" to find it. Overview and Techniques of Torture in Iraq members.lycos.co.uk >>Torture has been called the 20th century epidemic. Amnesty International estimates there are more than 90 countries in the world that systematically practice torture. A fundamental characteristic of torture and ill-treatment is that it is an integral part of the institutional structure of many states. Iraq under Saddam Hussain is high on the list of countries practising torture. Terrible techniques of torture practised by Saddam Hussain's regime against the Iraqi people include: Tying up in a chair with electrodes connected to many parts of the body to administer electric shocks. Wipping with a steel cables (covered in plastic) Hanging by chains (upright or from the feet) Forced sitting on brocken bottle. Forced sitting on gas heaters. Hanging by the feet from a rotating ceiling fan whilst being beaten. Burning with fire. Tying the hands to electric cooking heating elements. Branding with a hot iron (usually the forehead). Applying a hot solder iron to the hands and feet. Breaking the nose and bones with a hammer. Pulling out finger and toe nails with pliers. Amputating limbs with a chain saw. Pumping air or boiling water through the rectum. The classic (Chinese) water torture. Imprisoning in a hole full of filth. Clubbed on the head and genitalia. Loud Noise torture. Crucifiction. Also with ears not hands fastened with nails. Airtight room with soaring temperature. Extracting teeth with pliers. Hammering nails into the fingers and hands. Acid (also disposing of bodies in acid baths and ovens). Leaving dead bodies left to rot in the vicinity of prisoners. The use of wild dogs. Suffocation and submersion (wet and dry submarino). Nailing the tongue to a wooden board. Pouring boiling oil on the body and limbs. Spraying the eyes with insecticides. Hanging women by their hair while their husbands and children are forced to watch. Rape (male and female) while the victim's spouse is forced to watch. Hanging a woman by the legs (especially when menstruating). Using hornets, wasps, spiders and scorpions to sting naked Children while their parents are forced to watch. Amputating the penis or breasts with an electric carving knife. Psychological Torture: Threats, deceit, humiliation, insults, sham executions, etc. Although torture and ill-treatment can be conducted on both physical and psychological levels, an act of torture can never be classified as having exclusive physical or psychological effects. Much of the trauma and stress of torture arises from the total experience of incarceration and ill-treatment, rather than from specific acts of violence.<<
