Just going on my own observations of the whole New Age phenomenon, I suspect that those who are earning a living pay little attention, while those who live on somebody else's earnings find that particular system of superstition quite attractive. Unfortunately, those who raise children are often in the latter group. Fortunately, I would guess that most kids see right through it. KIds often have rather effective built-in bullshit detectors. I recently observed the agonies of a 13 year old boy whose (single) mother had recently declared the household converted to vegetarianism. Not a pretty sight. I fed him steak. It was the least I could do....
