Exactly. The founders acknowledged the existence of the supreme being, "the Lord" and they did not intend to establish a state religion a la the hated Anglican Church. They intended no preferences be given to any religion as well. BUT they also just as clearly did not intend to interfere with the exercise by the citizenry of their right to exercise their religion, whatever that might be, within reasonable limits of course. No rights are absolute.
