Ted was the greatest pure hitter of all time. And we won the triple crown twice; no one has won it once since 1967 (when Yaz, another member of the Red Sox did it). And the last day of the year he hit .407 he was hitting .400 going to the game. The manager offered to let Ted sit out. He refused, had a multi-hit game, and ended up batting .407.
