The Republicans have been beavering away frantically ever since then to chop down all the statutes that were created over decades in response to previous frauds. Now we're witnessing the eager beaver dam of deregulation giving way like the floods in central Texas, flushing vast amounts of wealth away as it goes out to sea. Cf.
