Elmer,

There is the official explanation of QS and than there is the practical application. If you are interested in official, I can find a long post I have written on the subject (if SI is cooperating).

The practical use is that the QS# matches clock speed of competing Intel chip.

Elmer Re...AMD won't say if that still applies to Hammer. Do you think a 3400+ Palomino will compete with a 3GHz+ NorthWood with 533MHz FSB?<

Of course I do. Us Droids always think positive.

Does 3400+ QuantiHurtz mean something else? What would make anyone think so when AMD refuses to say?

Who cares what it is compared to. The quantihurtz is just a model number. As long as the 3400+ has performance = or better than a hypothetical NW at that speed; AMD will let the consumers decide which chip to compare the Quantihurtz rating too. Why are you trying to get our undies in a bunch over a model number.
