Yes, he made a movie about this fellow who tried to annex Nicaragua in the 19th century (the name escapes me). It was one of the worst movies I have seen......

I thought that was a very good movie.

I thought he went into the whole thing rather jaded about his faith. I seem to remember the whole experience strengthened him (religiously)- and that the woman might really have been a saint- I thought there was enough ambiguity about the whole thing, that he found the experience inspirational. Do you have a different recollection?
