FALN--the Spanish initials for the Armed Forces of National Liberation. Eight were convicted of seditious conspiracy, weapons charges, and counts in connection with an armed robbery in 1980, and plotting another. Three others were convicted of a 1983 plot to bomb two military installations. One, was convicted of planning a robbery in Connecticut in 1983.

I believe the government claimed, that the robberies were to fund terrorist activity. The FALN is thought to be responsible for over a hundred bombings in the U.S. between 1970-1983 with 6 deaths.

"As one of his last acts" the first President Bush pardoned a Pakistani heroin smuggler (reputedly with CIA ties) who had been caught red-handed in NYC with several MILLION DOLLARS of heroin in his possession.

He also, of course, pardoned several of the Iran-Contra big wigs (Cap Weinberger) of any and all charges - in advance of any formal inditments actually being brought.... A pretty neat way of saying someone is "untouchable".
