And by the way, just an FYI..... The Orginal Pledge DID NOT include the words "Under God", that was added by Congress..... You know.... The GOVERNMENT..... In the 50's. A prime example of Your Govenment Money at work.

The original pledge was a flag advertisement from the late 1800's.

The "under God" phrase was added during the 1950's as an outshoot of McCarthyism. Because Communism was an officially atheist philosophy (according to Karl Marx), elements in the U.S. Government worked very hard to mobilize America's large Christian population to fight Communism. In short, by playing both ends against the middle (Communism = atheism, but we still have "separation of Church and State"), there was no rise of Christian Socialism in the U.S. like there was in Europe...

Semi, 80% of Americans want to keep "under God" in the Pledge. If that weren't the case, Congress wouldn't have rushed to overwhelmingly condemn the ruling.

Your liberty is not "threatened" by a totally voluntary pledge. If you believe otherwise, then you have joined the growing ranks of the "offended minority."

semi:

Actually the True True True Pledge is as follows:

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
