Some people don't look both ways when the cross the street and make it to the other side fine.

I don't consider that an argument for not checking the oncoming traffic, though.

There was an interesting article on the subject of fat=bad and carbohydrates=good in the recent NY Times Magazine. It would seem that all is not what it appears to be. I thought some of the information quite startling, given what we are told vs. what is actually proven:

I have little trust for statistics based purely on diet. There are too many other factors involved... a diet that would kill a sedentary individual might be perfect for a person that spends most of their time in outdoor activity....
