I thought the plot was silly but the effects stupendous so not a total waste...

Vanilla Sky, now that was a total waste despite Cameron Diaz......

I haven't seen it. I do know the frustration though of watching a particularly long movie believing that surely it will come together and it never does. To date, I would say the most boring film ever made was a Russian flick named "Solaris".

I am sorry to hear that. I thought "Empire of the Sun", though not terrible, was quite overrated.....
