NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks slumped in early trading
on Monday, led by Merck & Co. after news the drugmaker
recorded revenue of more than $14 billion from its
pharmacy-benefits subsidiary Medco that the unit never
actually collected.

Merck fell to $46.50 on Instinet, from a close at $48.86
on Friday, but up from earlier trades at $45.50 on
Instinet and was the electronic trading system's
most-active stock. The information was contained in a
Merck filing with the Securities and Exchange
Commission ( news - web sites).
