Except that I am not talking about former "great" civilizations. I am talking about the United States of America. Do you think you might want to apply your metaphors to the subject at hand?

Yeah, I understand all right. I understand that you are applying Narrow Definitions to prove Some Point that the US was Religious in the beginning, and the US is Great, so therefore Religion OBVIOUSLY leads to long lasting greatness. Sorry, I thought that you were joining in on the Big Picture Discussion, instead of your own small world. My mistake.

Civilizations come and go, and there are many reasons for their rise and downfall. Your "Position" seems to be that The United States Of America achieved it's "Greatness", and is still here 226 years later is some 'Proof" that religion leads to Greatness. The fact that Historically there have been many Great and Bad Civilizations BOTH Religious and Non-Religious, labels your apparent assumption that the application of religion leads to "National Greatness" as B.S.

"At Hand" Enough?
