i think it will take the dow to start crashing to get the golds running big.....

I guess it really is about the price of gold then. To get them running big, we need that big price increase. When the price starts to spike in a big way, gold stocks can't be held down even while Dow/Naz head down to your lower targets. So far all we had seen is an orderly increase in price of gold.

At the tail end of this recent Nasdaq drop, prior to last Wednesday, gold stocks (and price of gold) had been going down with the market. I guess it can be seen as a simple pullback in a sector that is in a bull run.

And the more conservative investor can take advantage of this situation by shorting the Dow. And if one wants a more aggressive approach, one can buy gold and short the Dow.
