Semi, nope.
You've missed the point completely. Now you are trying to tell me what I am thinking, using your obvious biases to stereotype me, and then drawing ridiculous conclusions based on already incorrect assumptions. Does this desperate behavior remind you of any other group of people that post on these forums?

---Yeah, backpedaling and saying that "Others" have "Missed The Point", does remind me of desperate behavior of another group of people that post on these forums..... "Others" who have gotten caught with their foot in their mouth that is.

---So Let's Look: I was posting to Jim on comments about Non-Religious Civilizations and their relative "Greatness":

Sigh.... I'm sure that if I looked it up, I could find PLENTY of Great Civilizations that were created by non-religious people. And probably several which lasted allot longer than the U.S. has.

---I DIDN'T say that ANY of those Civilizations were around today. You responded however with "Oh really? How many of those Great Civilizations Are Around Today".

---Now MOST PEOPLE might think that your statement meant "Non-Religious Civilizations are not still around today, so therefore maybe, compared to the "Religious" U.S. they're not so great". But Hey, maybe I mis-interpreted your comment, so my next post attempted to point out AGAIN that Religion and Great Civilizations are not bound terms:

Civilization Timelines are relative. I'm sure that I can just as easily find many many many many many many "Great Civilizations" based on Religion, that are ALSO not around today. So your statement proves nothing.

--- But once again, you ignored the point that I Was Trying to make, that Religion and Greatness aren't necessarily bonded, and turned it into some sort of "Yesterday doesn't matter" thing:

Except that I am not talking about former "great" civilizations. I am talking about the United States of America. Do you think you might want to apply your metaphors to the subject at hand?

--- For which, I TRIED to get you back on the point that Jim and I were referring to in the first place, which was that Civilization and Religon do, or do not necessarily lead to Greatness:

Civilizations come and go, and there are many reasons for their rise and downfall. Your "Position" seems to be that The United States Of America achieved it's "Greatness", and is still here 226 years later is some 'Proof" that religion leads to Greatness. The fact that Historically there have been many Great and Bad Civilizations BOTH Religious and Non-Religious, labels your apparent assumption that the application of religion leads to "National Greatness" as B.S.
siliconinvestor.com;

---You ran off on some sort of Historical "How many of those civilizations still exist" track, which had little to do with the point of "Religion Does or Does Not Lead To Greatness", You resisted 2 attempts by me to get you back to the point, and yet..... It's ME that missed the point.

Right. Or maybe, in your half hearted attempt to be smug, you didn't make your point (Whatever the heck it was SUPPOSED to be) clear. If it wasn't to suggest that Religion=Greatness, then maybe the problem is not that I "missed the point", maybe it's just that you didn't Explain your point.
