The fact that you cannot answer this question after having read Said's review of Lewis' book speaks to how little time Said devoted to discussing Lewis' points in any fashion, and how much time he spent attacking Lewis personally.

No, relax, Nadine. If a few of us type some good thoughts about Said, neither this thread nor the Western world will take a dive.

Said's review was not meant to answer that particular question, so I was practicing a bit of modesty by not inferring that from his writing. I can imagine several. What was clear was his argument that Lewis asks the wrong questions and argues answers on the basis of very little evidence and vast over generalization.

Pretty serious points.
