J F, I doubt there will ever be a real 3 way race under the present system in the USA.
It is a lot better to give a choice of 2 and have a majority that the Canadian system.
You can have 5-6 candidates here and the winner might get 25% of the popular vote and the rest of the 75% spread amongst the others.
That is why we have so many socialist governments at the state levelhere...the socialists order their workers to vote and they turn out 90% of their group, while the others have about 40% turnout, so with 1000 voters, and 5 equal parties the socialists get out 180 of their 200 and the others turn out 320 of their 800. usually 1 of the 2 major parties wins, but occasionally a socialist party gets in and we have 3-5 years of union promoting government.

That is why the Can $ is 60% of the US$...too many fat union toadies in the three levels of government we have. Tax freedom day is in July....over 50%(56% i think) is total tax take from all levels.
