Maybe we could learn from the dogs after all. I have two, both springer spaniels--one brown and white and very old and feeble, the other 10 months old, black and white. Annie, the elder dog, is the boss. Daisy, the pup, so powerful she can nearly jump over my car, could easily tear Annie to shreds--although she doesn't know it. But if Annie claims a toy or a treat, or is offended by Daisy's rowdy behavior, she will put Daisy down on the ground and discipline her. They spend all day together and sleep together at night. If only the world would operate under similar principles.
