Microsoft Puts Squeeze on Intel over Linux
g2news.com

Microsoft ain't kidding when it publicly admits to being spooked by the "formidable challenge" Linux is posing for it in the marketplace.

Insiders say that Micro-soft is exerting so much pressure on Intel that any Linux initiatives the semiconductor giant is considering these days have to be cleared with Intel CEO Craig Barrett.

The lever Microsoft is using to keep Intel in line is reportedly its threat to throw more support be-hind AMD. Like backing the up-coming AMD Hammer hybrid 64-bit x86 chip over Intel's darling 64-bit.....

The above CSN article sheds some light on last month's announcement between MIGR and AMD. It looks like 64Express go to market strategy is likely to be split between Intel/Win64 and AMD/Linux64.
