Frank,
I'm in Brooklyn and see nothing on local TV about this. Also, in an emergency ala 9/11, there are usually fire and police sirens as local companies are also called to the scene...none of that today. I was at Grand Central last Saturday; the place was filled with police and police dogs, so security is considerably tightened. Over the 4th of July, there were uniformed National Guard troops throughout the subways and train terminals.
