Text Messaging launched in Pittsburgh and Nashville! All markets now launched! Interesting info on the AWE/VS rumor. It is my opinion it would be the best merger for the industry. Cingular needs some of VS territories. If AWE takes VS. AWE can kill the low ball priceing operator among the majors. And it can kill Cingular from getting to some of VS East Coast properties that it needs. This would leave Cingular without a true Nationwide footprint. So it would weaken Cingular and kill off Voice Stream. Cingular would then have to hunt for additional spectrum (Qwest) (maybe Northcoast and Devon since Adelphia and Dolans Cablevision have come into problems )and expend CapEx to build out new markets just to get a near nationwide footprint. I think AWE/VS would be the best solution for the industry as a whole. Except for Cingular. PCSTEL
