AMD's management strategy reminds me of the movie Gallipoli. In the movie the Australian forces are sent out of their trenches to be slaughtered by the machine guns across the battlefield. I don't think new management would keep up such tactics. They would more likely try and become a niche player in areas where the competition is less fierce.

The type of "business model" that AMD employs greatly helps Intel dominate AMD. If AMD ever had a strong management team, I would worry about my Intel investment.

What do you think they should do differently? What would a "smart" management team do given the current circumstances? I have my own opinion but I'd like to hear yours.

Dave, ‘ "If AMD ever had a strong management team, I would worry about my Intel investment." ‘
I think you sell Jerry Sanders short. Jerry has been the driving force behind AMD for many years. I think there is question that without Jerry will another management team have the same dedication that Jerry has had. Will they continue to battle Intel head on or look to something more expedient and more profitable? It is not easy going up against Intel, a company that spends so much on R&D and Capital Expense. But Jerry thrives on it.
