I'm a slow learner, but starting to catch on.

I have also been told that one can also retrospectively correlate the Republican makeup of Congress to any event past, if the Presidential explanation model does not suit the intended spin.

A)There was a recession and then an expansion during the Reagan years;
B)The recession occurred before Reagan had had any impact on economic policy. Basically, Volcker spiked interest rates to squeeze inflation out of the economy, in the hopes of getting past stagflation;
C)Once Reagan's policies had a chance to kick in, there was a robust expansion, which lasted into the first part of the Bush administration;
D)As a consequence of rapid base closings and ill- advised tax increases, there was a shallow, brief recession in about the third year of Bush's term;
E)Although we were in recovery by the spring, the bureaucracy did not reveal the revised numbers until after the election of '92.......
