Well, I wouldn't go so far to assert that it's "ominous". Especially since there appears to be quite a band of support at "parity", which is only about 5 points away (and we've come farther than that in just the past couple of weeks.

But it sure does some ugly things to the markets over the short term as cash is raised or transferred to other markets/sectors. But given the tear the USD has been on over the past decade, one can see where a period of consolidation was due.

However, US goods being exported abroad are now much more attractive, which bodes well for certain industries who had suffered at the hands of the strong dollar, and inexpensive imports.

Hopefully will force Europe and Asia to undertake some radical reforms to stimulate their own economies.
