Could/would someone comment on why Microsoft and WIndows are mentioned in this blurb given that the Itanium2 instruction set is different from x86? If it were a superset or near completely identical I could imagine some positive impact, but while it is a different instruction set and no version of windows is available then it seems buying into this will require much reprogramming of legacy software, no? And if this is so, how valuable is this introduction?
