The question of where the "bottom" is comes IMO from the level of confidence in the system, not just particular corporations. The administration keeps saying stupid things, like "only a dozen of the thousands of co's", but people speak more honestly with their dollars and think "gee, and the Bush crowd had dealings with 50% of them ..."

The market had confidence in Clinton, as well as Reagan, even tho' both had major scandals, there wasn't the feeling that the average joe was being constantly lied to and slowly roasted alive by the gleeful crowd in Washington. I haven't seen a "trust" poll, and don't trust polls much anyway, but I'll bet trust is at an all-time low.

The one thing these arrogant b*stards could do is full-bore disclosure. The public isn't buying the excuses. The conclusion is something Nixonian is hiding in the woodwork, IMO.

All that's needed to put the Golden Goose into a complete coma is some kind of extended cover-up that isn't believed by most of the investing populace
