i wonder if and when it'd be time to buy abx and or pdg (i know i know i should stay away from abx yada yada), however i did okay buying placer and selling calls till the sun don't shine...maybe i need to revisit this after these puppies are actually OUT of the s/p

I'm not sure they are necessarily desperate. Maybe just stupid, and did not see a real bear for a while. I think we are about to enter a stage when a lot of people become disillusioned and fed up with the market. Derivatives will play a major role in taking the markets too low and gold too high, eventually. Just like they kept gold lower longer than they should have been. They may even take Dow/gold below 1 - who knows. If you notice, long term Dow/gold ratio made not only higher highs, but also lower lows!

They obviously manipulate currencies, and right now they are trying their best to support the buck at 105. These interventions are always doomed if the market votes down
