I would favor teaching them how the religions depend on obedience to the unprovable. Step by step role playing of historical events in which religious frenzies have been whipped up to spur people on to violence against other human beings might have a lot of educational value.

Elementary school may be a tad too soon for that message, but I think planting it early enough to show people that there is a real danger in following religions to an extreme would be useful ammunition for the students as they grow up and are subjected to cult marketing.

Of course, the idea would never fly unless I was king. <g>
