swiss government is very decentralized, especially by euro standards. that seems to be one way to deal with fairly significant cultural differences.

of course, they're also very prosperous, and not having to worry about basic needs goes a long way towards social harmony.

The Italian speaking part of Switzerland is the greatest. Its cleaner than Italy. The trains run on time and nobody cuts ahead in line, the hotels are kept up by the German speaking, the food cooked by Italians and the French speaking. The Italian takes the anal retentive edge off the Swiss. Very civilized for a country that only gave women the vote 20 some years ago.
