But enough of the small stuff. The big question for you is why does Frank have to start a new thread every couple of years? Is this an attempt to ensure immortality or something?

Every couple of years? You haven't seen the Digital Photo thread, or the numerous other threads that he's instigated through his cronies? (I am sadly, um, one of them...)

I think he's just a little thin skinned lately. That happens when Mr. Market takes it to you with the highest grade of sandpaper...

Besides, the main thread is pretty useless these days, from what I've seen. Naysayers and apologists for the GGame are rampant, without a lot of critical thinking. Maybe this one will inject some new life.

No, it's to ensure sanity.

I enjoy enabling discussions between bright people (as opposed to wise asses) about topics I'm interested in. It takes a little work to set up and moderate a forum, but the reward is, I get to cheat off the smart guys :-).

The g&k thread has been mired in evaluation issues for quite a while, and several know-it-alls have established squatter's rights. I've run out of interest in the topic, which I don't believe will lead to any useful metrics, and being used for target practice. Hence, the Outpost.
