Sure. But that's irrelevant to the fact that - if we as a nation had adopted appropriate accounting conflict of interest reform, and treated stock options as the expense they are - then we might have been able to head off this entire mess... instead of conducting post mortems like we are now.

Chairman Levitt, Chairman Greenspan, and Warren Buffet all fought hard for honest accounting and they were WIPED OUT in the political arena by 'bought and paid for' politicians like Liberman, DeLay, Gramm, Kerry, Tauzin, and others too numerous to mention.

The BLAME for this disaster belongs in Washington, not corporate America because corporations were only doing what comes naturally: seeking every edge to maximize profits and 'manage' earnings like Wall Street desired.
