Are you really this blind? All hyperbole aside, the stock market CANNOT continue to suffer this kind of damage without dramatically affecting the overall economy. When people look at their 401k summary's after this past quarter a lot of people are going to realize that their dreams of retiring in another 5 or 10 years are going up in smoke. What do you think they are going to do when this realization hits? They're going to stop spending money, they're going to try to save more money and there goes this alleged recovery(which has been totally on the back of consumer spending).

The truth about the incredible ineptitude of the stooges running things will shortly be appreciated by most people. The question then will be whether or not the Dems have anything or anybody to offer who deserves the confidence and support of the people.

Best scenario for next six months:

1)Harvey Pitt is discarded as quickly as possible and Simon is made SEC Commissioner

2)Cheney resigns as the Haliburton scandal mushrooms beyond the White House's ability to stifle it.

3)Bush swallows his pride and offers V.P. to McCain

4)Major League baseball finally does something in the public good and offers Bush the job of Commissioner. Bush announces that he is resigning to fulfill his lifelong ambition.

5)President McCain appoints Powell as V.P.
