Something my banker told me years ago is that that defaults peak at the beginning of an economic recovery following a recession, not during a recession. I assume that statement was based on recent modern recessions which all tended to be of a reasonable duration, rather than the Great Depression which saw the greatest number of defaults and forclosures.

I know -- i was being sarcastic -- when it is clear this is going up for everyone -- the bloom comes off all of it -- from FNM, PMI to the homies, the homies supply depots -- all of it -- weeks or days away from the realization, IMO.
