RtS & Dan,
re: Power Semi Stocks

Remember I once was asking you in what "timeframe" within a semi cycle you would put them and what "external factors" could contribute to their demand.

You answered something like consumers and machinery plus automotive are the biggest customers of the sector, hence their drivers. Well, what a coincidence. At the same time as digital, memory, logic, even analog semis are down (ADI, LLTC, FCS, CRUS, NSM, ZRAN, ESST - even my NJR 6911.J shed 15% and I sold it hence) power semi makers are upping guidance.

Look at POWI, APTI, CREE, SYXI, ONNN, IRF .. all seem to be doing either right or even fine. POWI & ONNN even upped guidance to cash flow positive. On ONNN I couldn't resist and bought a chunk. I also found a Japanese player before the herd called NIEC (6974.J) and got it before brokerage houses saw the opportunity (like in the NJR case). After some downsizing last year they are posting 28 Yen per share of EPS this year and 26 Yen for FY2004 which is sort of an understatement given all their involvement with automotive and even GaN... IRF owns 15% of them - in fact NIEC was early a JV founded in the 50ies of IRF and some local parties..

best rgrds and I hope you are doing fine
