I don't know. I have mixed feelings about that -- a plane is such an enclosed place, but OTOH -- if someone can get on a plane with one -- I would rather it be the pilot.

BTW -- Did you catch the story about this German crash -- how the controller tried to over-ride the auto-warning system. Had the pilot listened to the auto-warning system, instead of the controller ...

The security tests of airport screening have shown that they still can't detect guns in hand luggage up to 25% of the time. If anyone on the plane is going to have a gun I'd vote for the pilot.
