but my intuition is that, since 01/00, Apple's negative growth is a lower % than the Wintel PC group as a whole.

This is the case, but only marginally. Read the URL I sent, where they state an increase of 0.25 points in market share from Q1'01 to Q1'02 CY.

Of course there are those on this thread (you know who you are) who would want to remind us that the numbers were much higher under the previous administration.

You too Brutus? Herbvic you disappoint me. I guess when you are down you find comfort wherever you can find it...

I mentioned the larger figures to show that the market seems to have chosen a winner-take-all product, not to poo-poo the current efforts by Jobs, which in fact we lauded at the beginning of this thread (remember? solid moves, ipod, iMac, PB... ring a bell?). The whole thread started by our surprise of the small impact those moves had on the windows base.

Any stats out yet as to how much the PC market is down? Last I heard was some optimistic prediction of around 12% growth by the end of the year.

i saw one recently from one of these research firms where they lowered it from 10% growth to 2.5% growth.... or something like that...
