Thanks for your thoughts, KC:

I guess Mr Flynn, if he ever makes it that far, may stand - apart from other personified symbols, like Oedipus, Fagin, Elmer Gantry, Tom Sawyer, Rabbit Angstrom, (well, lets throw in a canadian) Ann of Green Gables ... - as a representative, as a representation of tech worshippers, who got suckered in by the promise of the New Economy, by the wats full of flesh the other side of Jordan etc. By their rigid adherence to one God - there's only one EMC and Joe is his prophet -. By their belief, that in the darkest moment of the night, there'll be an angel coming down from heaven, telling them about impending split before the market open next morning ...

I feel the story is not yet told to its end. In the worst-case scenario (probability low but not negligible) , the illnesses, old age and poverty will slowely creep on both of them. On the other, the happy end side of possibilities, they they may both live serenely (no Florida, but Cape Cod is not that bad) to their high age, laughing knowledgeably over the stupidities of younger generations - they will surely get some reason for that.

One thing is sure: they'll be getting visits from WSJ now and then. And they may soon raise the prices to 12$ due to steady flow of complete strangers coming to have a hair cut.
