I did go through Window's & Norton's scheduled tasks and none of them seem to be the culprit. The problem appears seemingly at random, and with varying frequency, and the system is almost never idle when it does, as opposed to how most of these automated tasks operate. When I first posted about it near market close today, I was interrupted by it three times. Since then, it doesn't seem to have happened. My wife was on the machine some of the time, signed on as a different user, and using all different programs than me.

Goback is very grudging of its secrets in its offline resources, probably because it operates at a low level on the computer. I'll have to research further on their site. I think it's either it or some glitch in the Raid controller or other hardware.
