MS, VXN is only 7 years old.... anyhow, VIX around 40 bodes rally, it's purely mechanical.... as option spreads widen all the straddle plays evaporate.... downside risk subsides, the hedges come off and the market rallys (and that's the simple explanation)... short term, tomorrow looking for another reaction low (it won't be as low as 911).... we're short term oversold.... the "lack of confidence story" is the same old same old summertime blues talk down story.... retail scares out.... market rallys.... ho hum... what's new.... I can't remember a time when CEOs/numbers weren't suspect.... this confidence story is a reach in lieu or precious little fundamental scare stories to talk down the summer market.... save the terror thing.... and that's old too.... the terror nets are totally disembowled, kaput for at least another 10 years.... My best play today was ZRAN < 15 to just off 17.... made money long all day.... PEP MCHP WBSN expect the same tomorrow.... Good Luck WS
