For several years back there, from 1996 to 2000, I actually thought a couple of brokers were my friends - am not so sure now. Perhaps they were just "nice guys", more like undertakers With nearly all "systems" failing today, it is as though a busload of (us) were suddenly transported in year 2000 to a foreign country like China where all the mores and traditions and languages are different. It will take much time to learn how to prosper , 2 1/2 years now and counting. And who can see a clear way? We should have kept our assets ( equities) hidden away in cash, jewelry, and property instead of leaving them with a broker.. There were many warning signs that things were changing in the investment community. 1. Government trying to dis-assemble the Evil Empire. 2. Mr G. starting to change rates 3. The proliferation of discount brokers 4. Implementation of 401 K plans 5. The establishment of options on a majority of stocks. And here I believe that was done at the request of institutions, not the individual investors. Who owned those 200,000 calls on INTC at one strike and one month alone ? Behind-the-scenes manipulators can use options in many ways to guarantee the public will lose. And today the manipulators are being dislosed. CFO's, analysts and accounting firms, for example. Very difficult to establish a winning agenda under these conditions. Sig
