Would you explain how these work and show how FNM as a party incurs a risk. Do the member banks claim to guarantee part of that risk?

When you say FNM throws its weight around, I thought they bought everything any lending instution gives them. Are you saying that they are negotiating to give more opportunities to non-bank originators??
