"Can you explain why he signed the Campaign Finance bill thinking it was unconstitutional?"

I can answer that.........it's an old political trick. YOu vote for something that you know will be knocked out by some other arm of gov't so you can appear to be in favor of it. You aren't risking anything because you know the Not SO Supreme Court will throw it out and you will never have to live with the law. I"ll bet the court cases to challenge the law are already ready to go....no doubt about it...it'll never be inacted.

Pat

Interesting....this could get fun...a challenge...

Ok, first of all I believe you've misconstrued my position. I didn't say Bush "caved" in to the press. What I said, in a matter of speaking, was the liberal anti-gun press would spin the news into a crusade against Bush, which would create a wedge between political parties during a time of war. Bush believed that being united was critical for the safety of the nation. Bush did what he thought was in the best interest of the nation even though he realized it would disinfranchise a large segment of his conservative base. Therefore, what you mockingly laugh about is your own confusion. :)

Leadership sometimes requires making these difficult calls. What you spin into "caving" was at the time prioritizing his principles. The same thing was largely true in regard to federalizing airport screeners. Bush saw that radical leftists like Dashle would use the issue to foment divisiveness during a time when togetherness was important. So he went along with the plan. Campaign finance was largely looked at in this same vein.

After this many months since the tragedy, and since Democrats like Dashle, Gephard and others are doing nothing but playing politics and attacking him, times have changed. And I believe Bush should change with them.

In regard to my local Representative. He hasn't done anything to build credibility with me. He basically panders to the wealthy limousine liberals in Bainbridge Island at the expense of the working men and women in my area.
