Ah, shutter lag, the Achilles heal of all but the very top end digital cameras.

Already had the Canon D-60 on order, then talked with Sara Krulwich from the NY Times, and decided to wait some more. She said even that camera has shutter lag that makes it useless for candid photography, which is all I ever do. I did get to play with her EOS-1D, which is absolutely awesome. No shutter lag at all, and one can lean on the button and fire off a burst as long as your arm. Alas, $5k for the body alone is a hurdle...
