both liberals and conservatives should be comfortable with a degree of non- conformity, reflecting the differences of temperament and situation among individuals......

I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't agree with that..

Neocon,

It is a bit strange that you would be attacked by someone from the left for having a lifestyle that could be characterized as "house husband" after the last 30 years of feminist activism. It just proves her unthinking partisan bias.

I am just finishing a book by Harry Stein called How I Accidentally Joined The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy (and Found Inner Peace). He does a very funny several chapter rant on what happened to Feminism. Also very funny is the multiple choice quiz starting on page 150 of the paper back edition "an American ninth grader might take around 2025."

Some of the questions...

Which unexpected event(s) during the primaries helped ensure Hillary's capturing the Democratic nomination?
A) The inexplicable sudden death of her chief rival.
B) The revelation by Newsweek's Eleanor Clift that a second opponent had once socialized with Clarence Thomas.
C) A story in The New York Times revealing her remaining rival smoked cigarettes.
D)Dick Morris signing on as her campaign strategist.

During the general campaign, Hillary was reported to have privately characterized her Republican opponent as:
A)"a bible-thumping ignoramo-American."
B)"an unapologetic believer in all the old, stupid myths about America."
C)"one of those anti-preference racist bastards."
D)"A f___ing a__hole who's about to find his b___s in my pocket."

Among Hillary's first acts after reaching the Oval Office was:
A) firing the White House kitchen staff.
B) meeting with the Gay, Lesbian and Transgendered Congressional Caucus.
C) meeting with Assistant Secretary for Children's Rights and Gun Safety Rosie O'Donnell.
(This was written before Rosie's recent statement about Clinton, doubt she has any chance of a post in a Hillary administration now. ggg)
D) announcing at her initial press conference that she would hold no more press conferences.

After Hillary left the White House, which of the following were found to be missing?
A) The Lincoln bed
B) The Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington
C) The Rose Garden
D) All of the above

There are at least a dozen more, all deliciously funny. The book itself is a very interesting description of the author's journey from an anti-war activist of the 60s to someone who finds himself agreeing with conservatives on most issues though he still thinks of himself as a liberal. I heartily recommend it for everyone. I found it on the shelf at the local Borders.
