ild... here are some ratings... a 90% approval rating is HUGE for a diet. my 43 yo exercise-aholic friend kept gaining weight. i told him about the zone and gave him the basic idea. he moderated his carbs and dropped 10 lbs easily. he isn't rigid - never read the book, he just now knows not to gorge on carbs. as an aside, he told me - totally out of the blue - that his indigestion cleared up... i didn't even know he had indigestion.

his wife is on it and says her cholesterol is much better now that she moderated her carbs and started eating bacon and ham again. the doctor said, whatever you are doing - KEEP DOING IT! :-)

as i get older, i do the diet for weight control. however, my main reason is mood control. this diet improves my attitude and energy level immensely. i invariably *crash* when i go off the diet.

my advice - don't start rigid. read the concepts - totally ignore glycemic index at first - and just approximate relative proportions. you can add complexity later.

if you have any questions, just ask.
