of the previous trend i.e. the uptrend from the mid 1990s.

Once the right shoulder is complete it means more downward to go. Two caveats: TA is not an exact science, and H&S patterns can fail. Allan's chart is a weekly chart, which leave a little wiggle room for smaller timeframes.

Carranza... H&S is indeed a reversal formation.. Keep in mind that H&S chart is a weeekly/monthly chart. The bull market we've had lasted atleast 16 yrs. So the last 2 down years is minimal compare to the 16 yr time frame..
