I have no problem with overvaluations, etc. etc. These are all perceptions, and perceptions always change all the time. My reasons for this market not going up (and in fact I believe Nasdaq will go under 1000) is the massive layoffs and unemployment that continues to be happening. As long as unemployment exists (over 4%) there will be no way on earth, heaven or for that matter hell to get out of this agonizing painful market and economic down cycle. But then how can unemployment improve if corporations continue to layoff people, and then those laid off spending less, which forces corporations to lay off even more people, and the cycle continues. It is a vicious cycle. I do not know what the catalyst would be for the unemployment to turn around. In 1989 or 92 one could have been hopeful due to the technological revolution that was about to begin, but now? There is no catalyst out there (at least I can not see any), can you? The sad part is there are still plenty of suckers out there. Take for example this afternoon! DELL came up with some laughable statements raising its revenue projecttion for the next quarter, and all of a sudden everyone seems to have gotten excited, causing a superficial rally (mostly short covering though I think). People dont realize (or do not want to realize) the reason DELL has raised its revenue targets is simply because it has taken more of the market share from its competitors in a rapidly shrinking sector (namely PC). In other words, the raising of revenue is not because of increase in demand but simply because DELL is the bigger bully now kicking its competitors out of the sector that has a shrinking demand for PCs! So we see a superficial rally tomorrow and who knows perhaps for the next few days, before watching the little fools hold nothing but their bags of shares dumped by the big boys of the Wall Steet! It is painfuly sad, and I really had never thought I would admit or see that with my own eyes! :)
