Re: on the topic of Africa, do you think that the AU will succeed like the EU. Of course not. The political, ethnic, geographical, cultural, educational and medical problems are simply too daunting. With the exception of certain enclaves, Africa is a basket case with certain countries headed off a cliff. The news of the AIDS devastation is quite sobering. When NPR describes something a surreal, you must assume that it's worse than you think. They rarely exaggerate, except during the weather segment. -Ray
