Doesn't some analyst come out and say that same damn thing EVERY quarter? Time to invest for years instead of quarters. Bear markets are caused by short-term traders...

management had "an abnormally large
incentive to pull forward revenue" to reach that target.
With today climate I wonder if any ceo's are going to still sell into distributors etc , overstocking them to make numbers.. In this case I guess soundview is saying they gave away the profit to move the mdse.

SoundView sees weak sequential Q1 revenue for Sun Micro Analyst Mark Specker at SoundView Technology believes Sun Microsystems' (SUNW) sequential revenue performance from its fiscal fourth quarter to its first quarter will be "weaker than usual," as industry checks suggest Sun was "very aggressive" with pricing and financing in June to meet consensus estimates for its fourth quarter. Specker also feels that, given Sun's promise of fourth quarter profitability, management had "an abnormally large incentive to pull forward revenue" to reach that target.

This is interesting, because Sanford Bernstein's Sacchonagi put out a note on Friday indicating that Sun didn't provide discounts to the channel in the final weeks of June, and didn't push product, indicating that Sun easily made June Q numbers and saved some sales for the seasonally weak September Q. Exact opposite conclusions of mister Soundview.

We shall see who has better 'sources' on Thursday. One of these two guys is going to end up looking like a chump.
