Syrians have figured out that it is best to let the US do the dirty work in Iraq while Hizbollah is left to its own devices. We know what that means--Hizbollah will be cut down and Syria will shed crocodile tears as its own post-war position is enhanced at no cost to it at all.

Maybe you're right -- if Bashar Assad is smarter than I think. When the time comes, we will see who really has more influence over him, Colin Powell or Sheikh Nasrallah. I wouldn't even know how to lay the odds on that bet right now.
